New Rustic Fermenting Crocks

Posted on October 01, 2014 by Emily Kociolek | 0 comments

The last of our new products are now available for purchase!  We are always looking for new Polish ceramic artisans to work with and are excited to offer this new line of Rustic Brown fermenting crocks from Ceramika Kowalczyk.  We have 5 designs of these crocks available in sizes 3L - 8L.  All of the crocks feature a light muddy brown lead-free glaze as well as a waterseal airlock.  They also come with the stone weights included.

The 8L size is our largest of the Rustic Brown crocks.  The same design is also offered in a 6L size.  This crock features a 2" deep airlock waterseal, which means the water won't evaporate out as quickly.

Next up we have a 5L size in a barrel design.  This crock is a great size for most people.  It's small enough that it's easy to move around but large enough to still make a nice amount of pickles or sauerkraut!

The 4L Diamond size has affectionately been nicknamed the "pineapple" in our house.  This crock is a great balance between decorative and functional.

Our smallest of the Rustic Crocks is this cute little 3L Cucumber crock.  We love the etched cucumber design on the side.  We get a lot of requests from customers to offer a smaller crock size and this 3L crock is just that.  It's easy to move around and doesn't take up much space.

With all of these new designs and sizes of Fermenting Crocks we have been adding we hope there is an option for everyone.  The Rustic Brown line of crocks has a slightly less smooth glazed finish.  It still works great for fermenting, but the price is more affordable for many people.  We want to make sure we offer a range of products that work for everyone's needs and budgets.  Hopefully we have something that will be perfect for you!

New Designs of 10L Fermenting Crocks

Since Fermenting Crocks are our most popular items, we are expanding the range of crocks which we offer.  The 10L size by Boleslawiec is currently our most popular, so we have added two new shapes to our product offerings.

The Fermenting Crock, 10L Round with Stone Weights is slightly shorter than the traditional straight sided 10L Fermenting Crock which we have always offered.  The rounded shape gives it a more decorative look.  It has all the same great features as the 10L Crock, including a lead-free glaze, waterseal airlock and stone weights.  Due to the rounded shape of the crock, the stone weights will be smaller than the interior diameter of the crock, especially at the widest point.

We have also added an "Egyptian Style" 10L Fermenting Crock.  This crock is very similar to the 10L Round Fermentation Crock, with a slightly different design.  The handles and lip of the crock add an exotic flair to the crock.  Just like our other 10L Fermenting Crocks, this crock has a lead-free glaze, waterseal airlock and stone weights.  Although other websites that offer this style of crock note that it does not have an airlock, this is not true of our crock.  We hand inspect every crock we offer and have included a photo of the airlock trough in the product listing just to make sure you know that it does have the waterseal airlock!

We just keep adding new fermenting crocks to our products, so stay tuned for more - including some new sizes!

Brining Crocks & 15L Fermenting Crock

Posted on September 23, 2014 by Emily Kociolek | 0 comments

The first of our new products are now available on the website!

We are now offering 2 sizes of Brining Crocks - a 3L and 5L option.  These crocks can be used for making a variety of fermented foods or for brining meats.  These crocks do not have a waterseal airlock or include stone weights, but this allows the price to be more affordable.  They also work great for serving your pickles or sauerkraut.

We also have added a larger 15L Fermenting Crock to our selections.  This crock is a larger version of our popular 5L & 10L Fermenting crocks.  If you are truly serious about sauerkraut, then this size may be for you!  It's quite large and heavy, but will make plenty of fermented foods in one batch.

We'll keep adding a few new products every day, so keep checking back here or on our Facebook page to keep up to date!

Fermenting Crock Blog Review

If you are anything like me, before making a large purchase (like one of our fermenting crocks) you read every review you can find.  That's one of the reasons we made sure to include customer reviews on our website.  But we also love when customers write a blog post about our crocks too!  It's wonderful to hear a more in depth discussion of our crocks and see a few photos of them in use.

Miranda at pocketpause.com shares her experiences with our 10L Fermenting Crocks in her latest blog post.  Be sure to check it out!

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a new shipment that will bring many of our popular items back in stock.  But in the meantime we have a few more Artisan Fermenting Crocks just listed on the website.  These handmade 2L & 3L crocks are perfect for small batches and experimenting.  Plus they look great on your countertop!

The newly added crocks come in a new color - Artisan Cream.  This color is the natural clay color with just a seal on it.  If you have one of the crocks in Artisan Green, the cream color is the same as the interior on the green crocks.  The 2L crocks are now available in both Artisan Green and Artisan Cream, just choose which one you want under the product listing.  The 3L crock is only available in the Artisan Cream color at this time.  We only have a few of each crock available so if you want one, get it now!

And stay tuned to the blog over the next few weeks as we add more new products from our latest shipment!
