Parzenica Folk Art Trivet

Why not add a little style to function with this artistic cork backed ceramic tile trivet?  The next time you need a place to safely set a hot dish, you can also show off your appreciation of Polish culture and design.

The Parzenica Folk art style uses a heart shaped pattern (or "parzenica") that is traditional of the handicraft decorative art of the Polish highlanders.  The design was originally made from string loops embroidered on the front of men's trousers to reinforce cuts in the cloth.  While the design started as three loops appliqued onto fabric, tailors began adding additional loops to use the design as decoration. Parzenica soon became a stand alone decorative style, typically seen in red or navy blue.
