One of the reasons we love working with small businesses in Poland is the opportunity to make personal connections with the artisans. This includes visiting their place of operation to see works in progress as well as talk about expanding their product line to meet our customers needs.
We couldn't be more happy to work with the artisan behind our Rustic line of ceramics. When we first found his products he was making all the items alone in his shop. Since we started importing his goods, he has been able to hire a second artisan as well as improve his packaging. He is currently working on expanding into some new options for us as well!
We recently had the opportunity to visit his shop in western region of Poland. It was so exciting to see all these ceramics waiting for glaze and firing. And since we enjoyed the chance to see the works in progress, we thought our customers might like to see it all as well. One of the joys of doing business in today's global economy is the ability to document and share with you what's happening on both the American and Polish side of our business!
One amazing aspect of his business is the kiln he uses for firing. The original brick kiln has been used for over 100 years!
The Rustic ceramic studio makes many decorative items, in addition to fermenting crocks. Originally, the artisan did most of his business at road side stands along the German-Polish border. At these stands the decorative items are most popular. We're excited to be adding more of these decorative ceramics to our products as well!
In this modern global world you have access to millions of products from around the globe. It's easy to lose sight of who made the items and where they came from. While our business is just one option among many, we hope that you appreciate the effort we go to in order to provide products with integrity. And now you can see for yourself just where the Rustic ceramics are made!
